Tidelines
New paintings and photographs by Margit Avelane. Six bright, quiet works about shorelines, weather and the light that sits between them.

Paint first, then the photograph
Margit works at one long table, with a camera at one end and a palette at the other. Each piece starts as a photograph she shot and printed herself. She tears the print, seals it and presses it into wet paint, so the image and the brushwork set together.
The result sits somewhere between a painting and a memory of a place.

The exhibit
Six works, hung in the order they were made. Here are the first three. The full exhibit gives each piece room, with its size, materials and a note from the studio.

Meet the artist
A painter who never put the camera down. Margit trained in printmaking, spent ten years photographing weather for magazines, and came back to the canvas when she started cutting up her own prints.

Bring one home
Originals and signed prints from Tidelines are ready to collect. Each piece ships ready to hang, with a certificate signed by the artist.
